About BHY

By Hook & Yarn and beyond is my baby. It is where I am able to share my love for crochet, knitting and yarn with other like-minded people.  I have grand plans for this project which include a weblog, a membership site, and an online/off-line store.

About This Baby of Mine …

By Hook & Yarn and beyond is committed to gather and share in the crochet and knitting knowledge of old and new alike with all crafters.

As you explore this site you’ll find an ever growing wealth of information and inspiration you’ll ever need to continue your crocheting and knitting. This information (how-to’s, stitches, patterns, etc) is derived from a variety of sources from both present and yesteryear.

Me & My Toys

I, Kcrystina, am the founder of By Hook & Yarn and beyond. My own crochet & knitting journey started in February 2008. My first attempt at these two needle crafts was an experience I’ll never forget. After trying both, I found myself drawn to crochet more than knitting due to the simplicity of using only a hook & yarn to create fabulous fabrics. However, due to my fibromyalgia and my carpal tunnel syndrome, I have been learning the art of patience through knitting. Even with switching between my left and right hands when crocheting, I still find knitting to be easier on my hands & wrists.

For me these two crafts are not only a beautiful way to create fabulous fabrics, it’s how I find peace within myself. There’s nothing like sitting in a favorite chair with a hook/needles & some yarn in hand. Whenever I pick up a hook, weave some yarn between my fingers and start working with it, I feel a connection open between myself and the divine. A connection that helps me open my mind to all the potential that the yarn I’m working with offers. The possibilities are endless… something my creative soul thrives upon.
