… it’s a way of life!

Creating with ones hands is much more than the outcome of beautiful items. It’s an intimate love affair between artist and their chosen craft. A love affair that not only brings to life amazing creations, but also the creative soul within the artist. When one purchases a handcrafted item you’re not just purchasing a beautiful piece of artwork, you’re investing in that artist and helping to keep the handcrafting industry alive.

Handcrafting has been around since the dawn of mankind; from the first humans creating tools to today’s artists who continue to amaze us. Despite the technology that the Industrial Revolution brought to the human world, there are many people to this day who continue to create and design fabrics (such has clothing, jewelry, bags, etc.) as their ancestors had done – by hand.

By Hook & Yarn explores the worlds of crocheting and knitting that are kept alive by these dedicated (and sometimes obsessed – in a good sense!) handcrafters. Within this website you’ll find an array of information to help you get your “hands” wet in both worlds, learn to become a “yarn whisperer”, along with meeting others & sharing your obsession passion. Whether you’re a beginner getting your feet “hands” or a seasoned vet, By Hook & Yarn has something for you. Feel free to browse through the sections listed below (or within the right hand sidebar) at your leisure & help me keep these two handcrafts alive by participating & meeting others within this site.
